Hangzhou Yatai Hydro Equipment Completing Co. Ltd.
  New-Tech Research and Development Center for Medium&Small Hydropower (hereinafter called R&D Center), one of the major technical sections in the National Research Institute for Rural Electrification under the Ministry of Water Resources (MWR), is mainly committed to the research and development of new technology for medium/small hydropower both at home and abroad. To meet the demands of market economy development, an independent legal entity, Yatai Hydro Equipment Completing Co. Ltd., Hangzhou (hereinafter called Completing Co.) is established in the R&D Center. Combing scientific research, engineering and commercial activity together and equipped with a laboratory & equipment test center of 1000 odd sq. m., the Completing Co. aims to apply the advanced, reliable and cost-effective R&D products in various medium/small hydropower projects both at home and overseas.

    The R&D Center/Completing Co. has attained outstanding achievements in the following fields: the integrated automation system of hydropower, the informatics technology for reservoirs, the automatic dispatching of power system, the management information system for the local power grid, the automatic control system, efficiency test & technical renovation for small turbine-generator units, the economical operation of hydropower plant, the line loss calculation and management system for rural power grids as well as the new energy-storage governor/operator for hydro-turbine, etc.

    These have been scored through persistent efforts of participating in R&D for various new-tech and new products in medium/small hydro sectors by a group of talented professional pioneers with advanced facilities. The long-term rich experience accumulated inside the research and engineering practice, the solidarity spirit and the market-economy orientation are also conducive to the great success. Among those projects, two were listed in the Science and Technology Funding Program of MWR, three for the "948" Tech-imported Program of the Ministry and four items as the first batch of the "9th Five-year Plan" Project Guideline of Application Program for Water Resources Science & Technology achievements> by MWR.

    Furthermore, this center has also designed and provided more than 3000 sets of hydro units for more than ten countries including Malaysia, Vietnam, Cuba and Guiana, with good reputation achieved in these technical services.

    Now, a lot of mature and proven products have already been developed and produced in this center, with the major items shown as follows:

    -SDJK series of computer-based supervision & protection system for hydropower stations (for high voltage turbine-generator units);
    -DWZK series of automatic control system for low-voltage units;
    -BZJK series of supervision & control system for pumping stations;
    -GC series of high oil-pressure operator for turbines;
    -TC series of spring type energy-storage operator for turbines, etc.

    In addition, the unmanned auto-control/protection system for hydropower plants has also been introduced from the Powerbase Co. of Canada and replicated with Chinese accessories by R&D Center/Completing Co.; the ultrasonic wave measurement for the turbine efficiency at hydropower stations and the management information system (MIS) for power-supply enterprises have also been developed. These products have already been extensively applied in numerous power plants and electric grids in Zhejiang, Jianxi, Shaanxi, Fujian, Hebei, Liaoning and Guangdong provinces. Meanwhile, the R&D Center/Completing Co. also pays an important role in the consistent renovation of original products, and the research & development of new products, and always traces the fine-of-art technology as to strive for providing more advanced technology and best services to the domestic and foreign consumers.
