Brief introduction to HALMAT HEPP
HALMAT HEPP is situated in AJK (Azad Jammu & Kashmir) area in Pakistan, with the installed capacity of 2×160kW, the design head 80m and unit discharge 0.262m3/s. The project consists of two Horizontal Turgo hydroelectric generating sets.

Hangzhou Yatai Hydro Equipment Completing Co., Ltd., subsidiary of Hangzhou Regional Center For Small Hydropower(HRC), signed the completing electro-mechanical equipment supply contract in September, 2011, providing turbine, 3-phase synchronous generator, brushless excitation system, governor, valve, main transformer, 11 kV switch cubicle, SCADA system, temperature measuring and braking cubicle, automation components, manual hoisting device etc. HALMAT HEPP is a pilot project for HRC as the first off-grid power station in Pakistan. HALMAT HEPP passed the preliminary acceptance organized by AJK Hydro Electric Board in May, 2013, and it is in normal operation now.

The successful commissioning of HALMAT HEPP accumulates the precious experience for stability study of small units isolated power system operation, which laid the foundation for exploiting the further small hydro power station markets in Pakistan for HRC.

As one of the “The Belt and Road” countries, Pakistan has wide prospects for cooperation with HRC in small hydropower field. HRC will strengthen the cooperation in technical training, planning, design and consultation with Pakistan and promote the exporting of small hydropower technology and equipment.
