2018 Seminar on Water Resources Management and Medium & Small-sized Hydropower Development for Uzbekistan Successfully Held in HRC

---During Sept. 15th - 28th, 2018 Seminar on Water Resources Management and Medium & Small-sized Small Hydropower Development for Uzbekistan, sponsored by Ministry of Commerce of China, and implemented by National Research Institute for Rural Electrification (also known as Hangzhou Regional Center (Asia & Pacific) for Small Hydro Power, briefed as HRC), was successfully held in Hangzhou. There are totally 20 participants from Uzbekistan attending the seminar, which is the 105th international training program implemented by HRC.
On the seminar, lectures on water resources management and medium & small-sized hydropower development as well as visit to the world-famous Three Gorges Hydropower Project were arranged. Besides, visit to the city of Shanghai helped the participants to know better about the great achievements after the reform and opening-up policy. Meanwhile, a diversity of extracurricular activities enriched the participants' lives here in China. At the end of the seminar, the participant representative delivered a country report on water resources management and medium & small-sized hydropower development, sharing their practice and experience. Also, in-depth discussion on future cooperation was carried out between the participants and HRC staff.
Mr. Fan Aihua, Division Chief from Zhejiang Provincial Department of Commerce and Mr. Huang Jianping, Deputy Director General of HRC, were present at the closing ceremony, and awarded the certificates to all the participants. Mr. Fan Aihua mentioned in his speech that water is fundamental to life, production and ecology. Faced with the grave situation in water resources, Chinese government has pitched in and work hard in water resources management and medium & small-sized hydropower development and it is willing to share with Uzbekistan its conception and practice in water resources management, collaboratively contributing to the realization of the 2030 sustainable development goals especially the water-related goals. So, it is firmly believed that this seminar will promote the cooperation between China and Uzbekistan in the field concerned.
The seminar is popular with and highly appraised by the participants, who benefited a lot from the seminar. The successful implementation of the seminar has laid a foundation for the friendly cooperation in the field of water resources management and medium & small-sized hydropower development between the two countries.
