---Entrusted by the Ministry of Commerce of China and organized by HRC, 2018 Seminar on Water Resources Management & Small Hydropower Development for Countries along the Belt and Road was held successfully in Hangzhou from 15 May to 4 June. 43 officials from 14 countries along the Belt and Road, including Dominica, Ethiopia, Guyana, Kenya, Nepal, Palestine, Peru, Rwanda, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Zambia came to attend the seminar. Based on the concerted efforts of all lecturers, participants and HRC training team, this seminar has achieved fruitful results. This is the 98th foreign-aid training program that HRC implemented since its establishment.
During the seminar, officials enjoyed the specific lectures covering the advanced technology and proven experience in the field of water resources and small hydropower, visited the world-famous Three Gorges Project, typical power stations and the equipment manufacturers, and attended the 2nd International Symposium on Hydraulic Modelling and Measuring Technology which is co-hosted by Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute, International Association Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research, and Hohai University. All the activities enabled officials to have a comprehensive understanding about the updated technology and equipment manufacturing capability of water resources management and small hydropower development in China. Furthermore, the representative from each country delivered country report respectively on subjects of water resources management and small hydropower development. Based on full communication and exchange of technical experience in the filed of water resources and small hydropower, an in-depth discussion on cooperation in the related field was conducted between officials and HRC specialists.
Mr. Huang Dengping, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of the Training Center, the Ministry of Commerce, Ms. Xu Jing, Division Chief of International Cooperation, Department of International Cooperation, Science and Technology of the Ministry of Water Resources, Mr. Fan Aihua, Division Chief of Overseas Investment and Cooperation, the Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province, Mr. Dai Jiqun, Vice President of Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute, Mr. Jing Maotao, Deputy Director General of Dam Safety Management Center of the Ministry of Water Resources, and Mr. Xu Jincai, Director General of HRC presented at the grand closing ceremony and awarded the certificates which are issued and sealed from the Ministry of Commerce to all the participants.
The seminar was warmly welcomed and highly evaluated by the participating countries, and its successful fulfillment laid a solid foundation for HRC to actively implement the guiding spirit of the Belt and Road Initiative, to boost the output of Chinese production capacity and to carry out in-depth and friendly cooperation with the countries along the Belt and Road in the filed of water resources and small hydropower.
