---The Moroccan Ministry for Energy has issued a pair of permits to international renewables developer Voltalia, allowing for the construction of a pair of small hydropower plants in the north African country.
The unnamed plants will have output capacities of 9.8 MW and 7.2 MW, according to Voltalia, and will be located in Morocco's Middle Atlas region.
The authorizations follow technical approvals from Morocco's National Bureau for Electricity and Drinking Water, which focused on the projects' connections to the country's national transmission grid since power generated will be sold under long-term power purchase agreements. Voltalia said those deals are still in negotiations with private partners.
