---On March 28th, 2017, sponsored by Perez-Guerrero Trust Fund and co-organized by HRC and Nepal Academy of Science and Technology, 2017 Seminar on Hydropower Development Planning for South Asian Countries was opened grandly in Kathmandu--the city of the "paradise in mountains" and "open-air museum". The seminar gained great attention and strong support from Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal and relevant governmental departments of Nepal.
More than 20 representatives from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka attended the 3-day seminar. The seminar aimed at enhancing in-depth exchanges and communication, fully sharing technologies and experiences among China and South Asian Countries in the field of small hydropower in order to promote development and cooperation in this field.
Mr. Pen Wei, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, H. E. Mr. Janardhan Sharma, the Minister of Energy of Nepal, directors from South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), Nepal Energy Development Council, Nepal Electricity Authority, Nepal Academy of Science and Technology and other authorities, Mr. Huang Jianping, Deputy Director of HRC, Mr. Lin Ning, Division Chief of Foreign Affairs & Training of HRC, were present at the opening ceremony and delivered the speeches respectively.
The seminar attached much attention nationwide and was reported by several Nepalese media.(2017-04-06)
