2015 Seminar on Rural Electrification for Asian Countries Inaugurated at HRC

---Entrusted by the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), HRC conducts 2015 Seminar on Rural Electrification for Asian Countries from 14 May to 3 June. Twenty-five officials and engineers from five Asian countries, i.e. Georgia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal and Pakistan, came to attend this seminar, which is the 72nd China-aid training program implemented by HRC since its establishment.

The opening ceremony of the seminar was held at the multifunctional hall of HRC and presided over by Mr. Lin Ning, the Division Chief of Foreign Affairs and Training. Deputy Directors of HRC, Mr. Xu Jincai and Mr. Huang Jianping were present, extending their warm welcome to all the participants who came all the way here for the significant event.

Deputy Director Xu firstly reviewed that in 2013, Chinese President Xi Jinping put forward the two concepts of "Silk Road Economic Belt" and "21st Century Maritime Silk Road" during his visits to Central Asia and Southeast Asia, which has received high attention from the international community. For the past two years, the initiative on building "One Belt and One Road" has greatly helped promote China's cooperation with countries from Central Asia and Southeast Asia, in areas like trade and monetary cooperation, traffic connectivity and people-to-people exchanges. In recent years, the world economy has entered an era of restructuring and transformation. Asia is also facing big challenges like the adjustment of economic structure and the transformation of economic development mode. For Asia and the world, strengthened cooperation and innovation as well as building-up of a low-carbon society is the effective way to the solution to energy problem and sustainable development of the society. With the subject of rural electrification, the seminar is designated to provide a platform for Asian countries to fully discuss and communicate in the field of rural electrification and the development of SHP, wind power and solar energy, focusing on the exchange of updated technology and management practice. Deputy Director Xu heartily wished the seminar a great success, so as to make further contribution to the rural electrification in the Asian countries.

Ms.SARUUL BAYARSAIKHAN, Project Manager of Infrastructure Network LLC, delivered a speech on behalf of all the participants "ˇˇwe would like to thank our sponsor the Ministry of Commerce of China and our organizer the Hangzhou Regional Center for Small Hydro Power and also Chinese Embassies for arranging our visitsˇˇThe Hangzhou Regional Center for Small Hydro Power has very good relationship with Mongolia and other Asian countries, and has done an outstanding job of training and educating for other developing countries in the field of energy and we would like to emphasize that fact and thank you for your continuing effortˇˇ". The status quo and outlook of energy development in Mongolia were also briefed in her speech. Ms.SARUUL believed that "ˇˇthe significance of those programs to be provided to us including the on-site visits, classroom theories and practical considerations will grant us unique opportunity to learn how China has implemented it's own rural electric systemˇˇ" and concluded that "with the extensive exchange of technology and experience, we hope to strengthen our technical expertise and promote the future cooperation and relationship with China and other participating countries."

During the coming 3 weeks, the informative presentations will be delivered to the participants and the field visits will be paid to the typical power stations and the equipment manufacturers of small hydropower, wind power and solar energy. Moreover, the in-depth discussion will be carried out cordially among HRC professionals and the participants from Asian countries, with concerns about the further international cooperation on the development of SHP and other renewable energies.
