The Result of "Sustainable SHP Development Study in China" Has Passed Experts'Evaluation

   ---On Mar 13th, 2008, Department of International Cooperation, Science and Technology of the Ministry of Water Resources hosted the project result appraisal meeting on water resources planning and significant subject of "sustainable SHP development study in China". The appraisal committee consists of famous experts on renewable energy and small hydropower from Qinghua University, CNNC of World Energy Council, Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission, the International Network on Small Hydropower, Zhejiang University and Hohai University, etc. more than 10 experts from scientific research institutes and universities.

   The appraisal committee gave a high evaluation to the research results. They believed that systematic study with clear objectives, comprehensive content and feasible technical route was carried out on sustainable SHP development in China for the first time on the basis of the requirements of sustainable development of China's economy, society and environment. The research conclusion has an important reference value for making the relevant policy.

   The project was considered innovative in evaluating changes of SHP' competitive strength, the methods of SHP scientific planning, technical route and framework of sustainable development of SHP, evaluation framework system of environment and development capacity at province level, the incentive policy framework and proposal of SHP development, reaching an advanced level in China. The appraisal committee recommended that promotion and application of the result be strengthened, conduct research on working out the SHP implementation details with focus on "Renewable Energy Law of People's Republic of China ".(2008-03-18)
