MWR Appoints Mr.Zhang as Director of NHRI

   ---On 14th August, Vice Minister of Chinese Ministry of Water Resources Mr. Hu Siyi announced at the meeting of leaders in Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute that the Ministry appoints Mr. Zhang Jianyun as Director of Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute and Director of Ministry's Dam Safety Management Center. Also present at the meeting were the Deputy Director General of Personnel, Labor and Education Department of the Ministry, Mr. Liu Xuezhao, representatives from Jiangsu province government and etc..

   The Vice Minister expects that Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute should deepen the reform constantly, strengthen the development of science, technology and the industry so as to develop more creative products and cultivate more talents. And he put forward the following four concrete requirements:

   --- Establish the consciousness of positive service, reform bravely and exploit the market actively;
   --- Bring the essence of reform and creativity into full play, proceed from the concrete conditions, gradually set up the operational mechanism of "openness, flowing, competition and collaboration";
   --- Work out measures to ensure "excellence", snatch opportunities, make clear the priorities, pay attention to the resources integrity, improve the value chain of science and technology creation in order to realize the combination of science and technology with industry and build the new platform for development;
   --- Set up the idea of putting unity and the whole above anything else, blaze new trails to strive a higher platform for the work of Nanjing Hydraulic Research Institute.(2006-08-21)
