---According to the reports from Vietnamese
newspaper, Vietnam Power Corp (EVN) will, in 2006-2010,
invest 39330 bil Vietnamese Dong (around 2.465 bil USD)
for setting up 13 hydropower stations in the western area£¨Tay
Nguyen£İby means of mobilized funds and other ways. They
include 2 stations in Dac Lac, 4 stations in Dac Nong,
4 stations in Gia Lai, 2 stations in Lam Dong and one
station in Kon Tum.
As reported, the above stations will
adopt cascade development in combination with small and
medium hydropower generation to supply energy locally,
irrigate and provide fresh water for domestic use.
The Vietnam Power Corp has already
built hydropower stations with the installed capacity
of 3270 MW in the western area. The bigger ones include
Ya-Ly of 720 MW, Ya Drang of 600 MW and Ham Thuan- Da
My of 475 MW. (2006-08-04)
