---The 2005 International Small Hydropower
Training Workshop for African countries is opened on 2nd
Sept at Hangzhou Regional Center for Small Hydro Power(HRC),
and around 25 participants from over 10 countries will
be attending the training with the duration of 25 days.
This training workshop which is the
first for HRC to conduct in French for African countries
has been sponsored by Chinese Ministry of Commerce. All
the lodging, boarding, training, pocket money and the
domestic transportation fees are borne by the Chinese
government. This is part of the Chinese contribution to
South-South cooperation.
Lectures are combined with discussions
and case study plus study tours, so as to consolidate
the theoretical knowledge acquired and get practical experience.
Study tour will be arranged to Shaoxing, Shengzhou, Linhai,
Leqing, Ningbo and etc where the participants are to visit
some hydro power equipment manufacturers, SHP stations
of various development types, combining the techniques
of low-cost civil structures and appropriate automation
controlling system. The trip to Shanghai will enable the
participants to see the fast development of the coastal
areas in China after adopting the policy of opening and
reform.
By the end of 2004, there were 43809
small hydropower stations in operation in China with the
total installed capacity 34.66 million kW.(2005-09-02)
