2004 International Conference on Promoting Advanced Water
Technology is inaugurated today in Hangzhou, a picturesque
city with long history and beautiful scenery.
Mr. Chen Mingzhong, Vice General
of Department of International Cooperation, Science &
Technology, Ministry of Water Resources (MWR); Mr. Wu Wenxiang,
Director of Science & Technology Promotion Center, MWR
and Mr. Chen Shengshui, Director of Hangzhou Regional Center
(Asia-Pacific) for Small Hydro Power (HRC) address in the
conference. Mr. Zhou Junliang, Academician with Chinese
Academy of Engineering, Mr.Zhang Ruikai, Director of Nanjing
Hydraulic Research Institute, and Ms.Wang Meiting, Division
Chief of Department of International Cooperation, Science
& Technology, MWR are also present on the rostrum. Mr.Ju
Maosen, Deputy Director of Science & Technology Promotion
Center presides today's inauguration.
Based on the 2003 Promoting Conference
successfully held by MWR via internet, and at the strong
request of the foreign enterprises the domestic users involved
in water sectors, this year's conference, greatly supported
again by the Department of International Cooperation, Science
& Technology of MWR and the National Administration
Office for "948 Projects", aims at intensifying
the supervision for introducing foreign advanced water technology,
improving the quality of water technology to be introduced,
and accelerating the technical exchange and the cooperation
between domestic and foreign water sectors. Nearly 200 delegates
in the field of R+D, management and application of water
technology attend the conference, and more than 10 foreign
companies came from USA, Japan, Germany, Australia, UK,
etc. are going to introduce their advanced technologies
& products totaled 49 items. The conference also includes
several activities such as technical demand investigation,
consultation and evaluation. The committee of experts will
be in charge of evaluating and commending the technologies
and products, so as to make out a guiding catalog of advanced
water technology as a reference for MWR to fulfill the advanced
water technical promotion work in 2005.(2004-05-11)
